BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences or BGSGMIS was established in 2012 in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is one of the leading and the most popular privately established medical colleges in Karnataka. 

The college is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science. It is funded by Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust which was started in 1973 as an initiative to render social, educational, and medical services for people in Karnataka with a blend of spiritualism. 

The courses like MBBS, MD, MS are offered and they are approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences Admissions

Students who apply should have passed the P.U.C examination (two years) with Physics, Chemistry & Biology. The Selection of students is based on the Common Entrance Test (C.E.T) conducted by the Karnataka Government or COMED-K conducted by the Consortium of Pvt. Medical Colleges of Karnataka.

How to Apply?

  • BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore conducts admissions based on marks earned in the K-CET exam or the COMED-K Exam. It is a merit-based admission.
  • Students thus, need to qualify for the KCET i.e. the Karnataka Common Entrance Exam, OR the COMED-K.
  • The qualified students should fill up an application form online from the BGSGIMS website.
  • Following that, seat allotment, document verification, and fee payment will be done and then final admission will be offered.

BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences Facilities

  • Medical College- Following the MCI norms, all the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Bio-Chemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, and Community Medicine have been designed.
  • Lecture Halls- The Institute has updated lecture theatres which are very spacious, accommodating over 250 students, and are facilitated with audio-visual equipment like projectors, etc. Digital learning has been incorporated by recording live lectures, e-learning, highly secured exam halls.
  • College Library- A huge library with over 400 students’ seating capacity, along with journals and books with a computer lab, internet, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Hostels: The institute has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, both equipped with all necessities like hostel mess, security, and recreation rooms.
  • Health Club- Indoor and outdoor games, gymnasium, badminton court and table tennis equipment are available for students to exercise and have a healthy attitude.
  • Cafeteria- A separate cafeteria serving healthy and nutritious food at an affordable price is available for students. There is another canteen for patients and family in the institute as well.
  • Teaching Hospital- The institute has a well-equipped teaching hospital for students with the first year M.B.B.S. students having a total of 300 beds. The Medical & Allied i.e. General Medicine, Paediatrics, TB & Chest, Dermatology, and Psychiatry have 120 beds; the Surgical & Allied i.e. General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and ENT have 140 beds; and the Obstetrics & Gynaecology having 40 beds. There are 20 ICU beds available which include PICU, NICU, ICU, and ICCU.

BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences has a huge team leading the faculty. The teaching members of the staff exceed over 200 medical professionals acting as associate professors, assistant professors, tutors, and residents who are experts in their fields. All the professors and Head of Departments have earned the M.B.B.S. degree along with M.D. or M.S in their fields.

There are 13 clinical departments, 5 para-clinical departments, and 3 pre-clinical departments. Each department is head by an experienced doctor.

There are also 380 staff nurses and over 180 non-teaching staff helping out the professors and students whenever assistance is needed.

Are there paid internships at BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences?

Yes, there is one year of internship as a part of the M.B.B.S program where students work under their professors at the hospital. They are paid a stipend of Rs.5000 and they gain experience for future endeavors

Are there placements at BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences?

BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences is a medical college so there are no placement fairs or campus placement drives. But since there is a working hospital, students who finish their internship can join the hospital as residents. Students joining residency get around Rs.50,000.
